MRC Rent Bora Bora

Article 1: Rental Duration and Return

The rental of the vehicle and scooter is concluded for a fixed period stipulated on the contract and any extension must be accepted by MRC RENT, failing which an additional payment will be charged on the same day.

On the day of return of the vehicle, a time will be stipulated on the contract along with the place of the appointment, any excess time being billed 5000 XPF.

Regarding current rentals: there will be no refunds for unused days or decisions to shorten the rental.

However, if the customer decides to return the vehicle or scooter on a Saturday, this will not be possible as MRC RENT is closed on Saturdays and no-one will be able to inspect the vehicle.

Article 2: Vehicle Acceptance

The hirer acknowledges that he/she has accepted the rented vehicle or scooter in perfect working order and undertakes to report any defects immediately, failing which he/she may be held liable for any damage caused.

Deductible of 120,000 XPF for third-party liability and an additional deductible of 120,000 XPF for damage coverage in the event that the insured vehicles are driven by a driver under 23 years of age or with less than 2 years' driving experience.

The vehicle or scooter must only be driven on the main road (paved road).

Article 3: Keys, Key Rings and Helmets

The renter is not authorized to leave the island of Bora Bora with the keys of the vehicle or scooter.

MRC RENT may claim compensation for the non-return of keys, key rings or helmets in case of loss or theft. The same applies if the vehicle or scooter is returned with wet or torn seats.

  • Loss of key ring: 6,500 XPF
  • Loss of helmet: 10,000 XPF per helmet
  • Scratched helmet: 2,500 XPF

The deposit will be seized if scratches are found on the car or scooter.

Article 4: Driver Requirements

The minimum age is 23 years old with more than 2 years of B license (never been subject to a suspension or cancellation of license). The maximum age is 70.

The driver must hold a driver's license from his/her country of origin or an international license.

For two-wheelers, the driver must be over 23 with more than 2 years' driving experience or a BSR that has not been suspended, withdrawn or cancelled in the last 5 years.

Article 5: Fuel

Fuel is the exclusive responsibility of the hirer in charge of the vehicle.

The customer must return the vehicle full with a ticket from the service station. If the vehicle is not refueled, the customer shall be billed at the rate set by the rental company.

Even if you do not drive much, you have the obligation to refuel.

Article 6: Punctures

Punctures of cut or torn tires are under the responsibility of the hirer.

The hirer will be liable for any damage to the vehicle if, despite warning signals triggered by any fault, the hirer continues to use the vehicle.

The hirer must go to the garage to have the wheel repaired and use the spare wheel until the main wheel is repaired.

Article 7: Scope of Warranty

The hirer accepts full responsibility for any driving off unpaved roads.

Article 8: Damages

The rented vehicle or scooter is insured for damage caused by the lessee to third parties by accident, subject to the lessee's full criminal liability and exclusions.

Two-wheeled vehicles are covered by third-party insurance. In all cases, the renter is fully responsible for any damage and must wear a helmet. The police may impose a fine which will be charged to the renter.

Article 9: Traffic Fines

The customer is liable for the payment of any traffic fine inflicted for a breach of the highway code.

Article 10: Exclusion of Warranty

Failure to comply with the following obligations will result in loss of insurance coverage:

The hirer is responsible for damage caused in the following cases: fruit falling on the bodywork or windows, loss of keys, tire damage, scratches, damage caused by drunkenness, damage caused by theft of the vehicle, damage caused when the driving of the vehicle has been transferred to a third party not named in the rental contract, damage when the vehicle has been used to propel a vehicle of any kind for transport in return for payment.

Article 11: Technical Inspection

If, at the time of the accident, the vehicle does not meet the requirements for a roadworthiness test, and therefore does not have a "purple card" valid at the time of the accident, any insurance policy shall be forfeited.

Article 12: Prohibitions

The vehicle may not be driven by anyone other than the person who has signed the contract. Any breach of this particular instruction implies the total responsibility of the renter.

MRC RENT reserves the right to retain part of the deposit, i.e. 50,000 XPF for a car and 40,000 XPF for a scooter.

In the event of an accident with a driver not identified on the contract, the hirer must compensate MRC RENT for all damages.

Transport of animals prohibited.

MRC RENT reserves the right to charge a cleaning fee of 10,000 XPF if the vehicle requires thorough cleaning.
